Pauls Coffee Shop! I love this place, and I’m not saying that just because my name’s in it! I used to live in Fountain Valley, Paul’s Coffee Shop is located on Warner and Bushard. I used to walk by this place all the time, because friends and I would always to go the Little Caesars a couple stores down. It was always closed, and seriously I thought it was just a small little coffee shop, who knew it had food….amazing food to be exact! Here is what really made me want to eat here, and also regretting that I haven’t eaten here sooner was because it was featured on one of my favorite Food Network shows hosted by my favorite chef. Diners Drive-Ins and Dines hosted by Guy Fieri!!! Paul’s Coffee Shop may not look like it from the outside besides the flags that are outside the door during operation times, but inside it is filled with lots of marine stuff. The chef/owner was a former Marine himself, and as Guy says, thank you for serving our country….and well also still serving our country! The moment you walk in, you encounter a wall of coffee mugs, I am sure you will be thinking like “what the heck?” but really, its for you to choose, like a certain coffee mug that is on the wall, once you are seated your server offers to wash the cup for you, yea that is pretty awesome! Beneath the coffee mugs were newspaper snip-its of the article of Guy Fieri visiting, as well as a picture of Guy giving his official autograph, with the awesome spray paint on a wall in the restaurant. Sitting in the restaurant, its nothing but a comfortable vibe, ranging with business people, couples, and a lot of regulars. The moment you take your seat, you are offered any beverages, and sitting there you witness how close the staff are. Its an awesome feeling knowing the staff are close, and well aren’t there just to be there because its work. Each staff member is friendly, and is usually either talking amongst themselves, or with the customers. While sitting you will also hear, people thanking Phil(the owner), when we were there a couple who were in their maybe mid 40′s said they live up in Oregon, and came to visit and saw this on Triple D and had to try it….I don’t know about you, but seriously that is damn awesome, and I am nothing but jealous! A goal of mine is to visit as much restaurants that Guy has been too! I have actually came here twice, once with my best friend Tristan and it wasn’t packed at all be it a weekday of course! I ordered the S.O.S which was pretty much featured on Triple D. The second visit was with my girlfriend Andreana, she has never been here and it was rare that her and I had a morning to ourselves, so I thought I’d bring her here. Again we came on a weekday, and were seated right away! Here’s a huge tip and warning, be prepared to wait a long time if you come during the weekend, this place gets packed again with the already regulars and then with the new comers! Here is some photos of what I have described earlier, as well as the episode where it is featured on Triple D…enjoy!

Ssp:

Chicken Fried Steak!!!!

Over Hard Eggs And Hashbrowns!

Biscuits And Gravy

As my friend Crystal and others have told me, the chicken fried steak was huge! I was actually prepared to order like an egg on the side, so when our waitress came back to take our order, when i said “Can I get the chicken fried steak”, she said of course and how would you like you eggs. Turned out you get the chicken fried steak, plus 2 eggs, plus hash browns and choice of either toast or biscuit and gravy! And oh my god I was so happy. When the food came out, my eyes grew as big as a light bulb, and shimmered as if my eyes were reflecting fire works! Everything looked delish!!!!!….As you can see from the photos! Adding my share of fresh ground black pepper, I grabbed my knife and fork and hell yea it was on like donkey kong! The chicken fried steak, had an amazing crunchy exterior, and just from looking at it as I cut had a tender and juicy interior. The first bite, I literally sank into my chair, and it is very rare, I actually kept chewing and savored the flavors! I then gave some to my girlfriend, and her reaction was good, not like mine, but she did admit, that it was pretty damn bomb! The egg and hash browns was like any other place, but I did love that the eggs were cooked perfectly, I converted my girlfriend to actually start liking over hard cooked eggs. The biscuits and gravy was delicious, the gravy was flavorful, and the biscuit was fresh, it wasn’t hard, but just soft and yummy! Seriously though, if you order the chicken fried steak, it can pretty much be shared between two people, its a huge piece of yummy meat, plus the sides! Sharing is caring…but this trip to Pauls Coffee Shop with my girlfriend, I handled this plate and seriously finished everything!!! No Joke!!…..Dont judge me!

Andreana:

Maple Bacon!!

Bomb Bacon!

My girlfriend ended up getting the Maple Bacon, as you can see in the photos it came with 4 strips of Maple Bacon, eggs and hash brown’s with the choice of toast or biscuit and gravy. As I sat there enjoying and just dozing off from the goodness I was eating, I saw my girlfriend feast on her food, and her reaction to her first bite into the bacon, was pretty priceless. I remember she said that it was the best bacon she has had, and when I got my share, it was pretty bomb and agree with her 100%. The bacon had a battle of textures and flavors, from crunchy and a little bit soft, and then the sweetness from the maple and the salt from regular bacon. It was seriously a grenade of flavors. Her dish was a perfect dish for her, and well anyone who enjoys the traditional breakfast, the owner Phil mentioned to me that Sam’s Club sells maple bacon, what an awesome tip because damn that was really good bacon!!!!

Ssp’s Final Thoughts:

If you enjoy breakfast food as much as I do, this is the place to go to! Be advise best to go during a weekday!!!!!!! The service here compliments the food, which makes the experience to Pauls Coffee Shop simply the best. Each portion of food, is the right amount, it is never too less but always filling! Also knowing that this was featured on food network it is pretty much the cherry to top of the sundae! I will always keep Pauls Coffee Shop in mind whenever I have a free weekday morning, because seriously the food is just amazing! Hope you all enjoyed this venture to Pauls Coffee Shop!
